You still have time to soak up the last long days of the year. Make the most of the sunny days of August and early September with our four favorite summer activities in Hillsboro, OR.

1. Rood Bridge Park

This town park spans nearly 60 acres with paved paths for walking and biking as well as three covered picnic pavilions with barbecue grills. At Rood Bridge Park, you’ll find open green meadows, a tennis court, and a lake with a boat launch. If you plan to get out on the water, you can use Hillboro’s only public access to the Tualatin River. In fact, the park is the starting point of the Tualatin River Regional Water Trail.

Rood Bridge Park is located at 4000 SE Rood Bridge Rd. You can visit seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Rollin’ Rec at Hidden Creek Park East

The whole family can enjoy this free pop-up party in the park, with fun games like badminton, cornhole, and soccer as well as crafts and races. To participate, kids of all ages can come to Hidden Creek Park East in Hillsboro with an adult on August 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The park is located at 300 NE 53rd Ave. It ​features a tennis court, a basketball court, a playground, a lacrosse field, a pickleball court, a soccer field, a playground, and a picnic area.

3. Portland Opera a la Carte Presents Romeo and Juliet

You can see this free performance by the Portland Opera on September 7 at the Walters Cultural Arts Center. Romeo and Juliet, considered the world’s first opera, dates to 1597. The show will combine music from the opera with lines from Shakespeare’s play. The event celebrates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio in partnership with Portland State University.

The Walters Cultural Arts Center is located at 527 E Main St. The show starts at 7 p.m. and concludes at 8:15 p.m. Seating is first come, first served.

4. Hillsboro Tuesday Night Market

You still have two chances this season to catch this popular event. Hillsboro Tuesday Night Market will take place on August 29 and September 5 in Historic Downtown Hillsboro, featuring food and beverage vendors as well as community businesses, crafters, and artists.

Join the fun from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The market stretches along Main St from 1st Ave to 3rd Ave. with vendors like Ave’s Bread, Crystal Heart Books, Guerrero Produce, Not Just Cheesecake, and Westside Pizza House.
