Toyota SUVs: What's the Difference Between the RAV4, 4Runner, and Highlander?

While times and tastes in cars may change, the sport utility vehicle does not seem to disappear completely. Drivers all throughout the world still turn to an Toyota SUV for their own convenience as well as that of their family. Our customers turn to a Toyota SUV for their safety, fuel economy, and versatility, but what differences does each offer? Many of our customers ask us questions like this and we want to tell you about some of the differences between our Toyota SUVs, apart from their designs.

Shoppers of Oregon and the greater Pacific Northwest can find our new Toyota SUV inventory located here at Royal Moore Toyota in Hillsboro, OR.

Toyota RAV4

We begin with the Toyota RAV4, a midsize crossover that remains an icon among its class and a reputable choice for many needs. Unlike other Toyota SUVs that seat seven to eight passengers, the RAV4 seats five and starts out at a comfortable price, making it a great choice for adventurers. Young couples also might find enjoyment from the Toyota RAV4 due to its versatility, with more trunk space than the average sedan and available all-wheel-drive to make any trail condition easy. The standard infotainment system of the Toyota RAV4 comes standard with smartphone and AI compatibility through applications such as Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Amazon Alexa. The RAV4 stands as one of the first Toyota models to offer compatibility with Android smartphones, while the rest offer Apple compatibility.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Another key difference we see wit the RAV4 comes through its available hybrid model. The RAV4 Hybrid stands as one of few alternative energy crossovers on the road, with a gas/electric powertrain and very little emissions. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid offers multiple driving modes on its transmission for you to boost fuel economy and sporty handling as you like to suit a variety of terrains.

Toyota 4Runner

You might recognize the Toyota 4Runner for its unique design as a large and in charge crossover SUV. The 4Runner comes built to suit a variety of adventures and maximizes off-road efficiency with its high line of sight and adaptable suspension. The Toyota 4Runner also stands out through some of its available equipment; until recently, only the 4Runner came available with TRD series upgrades. While the RAV4 offers TRD Off-Road as an available trim, the 4Runner comes available with all three TRD trims: Off-Road, Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro. Shoppers would only find this trim series available on Toyota pickup trucks.

While the 4Runner does not come available as a hybrid, it des offer a great deal of versatility through its trim levels. The 4Runner has many looks and you can enjoy this crossover as a three-row SUV with seating for eight, or as a simple two-row crossover that seats five. It all depends on your individual needs!

Toyota Highlander

If you want to enjoy versatility and family-friendliness in one Toyota crossover, look no further than our new Toyota Highlander models in Hillsboro, OR. The Highlander seats up to eight passengers and offers increased cargo volume through a recent redesign. Gas-powered Highlander SUVs offer standard V6 performance, sending optimal torque to the wheels and enabling this SUV to tow a great deal as well. Its acceleration provides responsive and immediate gear changes without stalling and the engine construction helps keep the drive quiet, even at highway speeds. As with the RAV4, the Toyota Highlander also supports Android Auto™, a feature we will likely soon see added on all new Toyota models.

Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Just like the RAV4, the Highlander comes available as a hybrid and still seats eight, with flexible cargo volume. The hybrid performance offers low carbon emissions and excellent fuel economy whether driving through the cities or taking on a long road trip with your family out of state.
